Top 5 Tips to Aid Weight Loss

People always have top tips to weight loss but most of them are unrealistic and hard to follow, so here are some nice easy top tips that take no hard work at all.

Drink Plenty of Water!

Water aside from having absolutely no calories to speak of, it can be very filling. If you drink 1 glass of water while making your meal and have a glass with your meal, you will feel fuller and eat less over all. I personally tend to have a hot drink, tea with Vitafibre or even a low calorie cup-a-soup.

Can’t Live Without Your Dessert?

If you simply can’t live without your dessert, go for chopped fruit salad with low fat yoghurt or a high protein yoghurt. How about mixing it, a low fat toffee yoghurt with a chopped banana, makes you, your own low fat banoffi! How about a chopped fruit salad with sugar-free jelly as well, a little thought into fruit goes along way.

Baby Steps Work Too!

One of the things I hear oh so often is people saying “I have a few pounds to lose”, which is a good thing as every few pounds counts towards your goal. However what people mean is “I have 3 stone to lose”, which sounds like a hell of alot, and may dishearten you.

You are better thinking 1-2lbs per week on average is all I need to lose, your first week or so you will lose a lot of water weight. You may lose 7lb in your first week, 4lb in your second week, so all going great.  When it comes to your 3rd week you will be running out of water and your loss may slow down or come to an abrupt holt. That’s OK, because you already lost 11lb so 4lb per week on average, so its all good.

This way of thinking will help you rapidly along, before you know a month has passed and half a stone has vanished, 2lb per week, half a stone per month are your targets.

Are you a Disco Diva?

Did you know that you don’t have to stay in and hide from your social life while losing weight. Dancing for 1 hour burns up to as much as 450 calories! So there you have an excellent excuse to go clubbing and dance the night away, remember water has no calories.

If you just can’t avoid the alcohol and you want to drink, stick with spirits and low cal/diet mixers, and absolutely not fruit juice based drinks. Some good suggestions are clear spirits e.g. Vodka, Bicardi and Gin, with Diet Soda, or maybe a white wine spritzer with low calorie soda of slim line tonic water.

If you don’t want to go out raving, Zumba can burn up to 650 calories per hour.

Fallen Off The Wagon!

This is another thing we all do, we are dieting away and then we have a lapse and cave in and binge a little and eat like a pig and love every minute of it.

DON’T give up and certainly DON’T punish yourself, just dust yourself off and get back on track with your diet.

DON’T try to make up for the excess calories you ate, by harsh cuts, just carry on as normal with your diet and all will be good.
